Tired of the usual pizza? Then why don’t you try this take on an Italian classic dish. Ladies and gents, we give you our Calzone Pizza recipe.

Honestly speaking, I still would prefer any meat filled pizza over this. But the point of giving you this recipe is an alternative to the usual 8 slices you see when you open that cardboard box.

And just like new experiences, this can easily blossom into a tasty long term relation.

Your Ingredients

2 thin pizza crusts (just go to the store and ask for classic pizza dough)
24 pepperoni slices
1, 4.5 oz, jar of sliced mushrooms with its water drained
Half a cup of sliced pimiento stuffed green olives
8 ounces of thinly sliced provolone cheese
1 tbsp of grated Parmesan cheese
14 ounces of pizza sauce (heat sauce before using)

How to make your Calzone Pizza

Heat your oven to 375°F.

Now get a 12 inch pizza pan and grease it lightly.

Get one of your pizza dough and place it on the pan.

Now, layer the dough with olives, mushrooms pepperoni and cheese.

Once done, get the other dough and put it on top.

Press over the edges to make a seal and cut a few slits on top to allow steam to escape. Top it off with a generous sprinkle of Parmesan cheese.

Now throw it inside the oven and bake for 30 minutes.

Slice your calzone into wedges and serve with your warm pizza sauce.

I tried to make a calzone pizza last night and it stuck to my pan. I read your receipe again and saw that I was supposed to grease my pan first. It was a really bad step to forget. It still tasted great but fell apart. I made a vegetarian version and did get soggy areas, maybe because I used too many veggies or maybe I should have cooked the veggies first? Lisa

The pizza sounds good, but what sounds better is over stuffing some sausage and bacon bits to the max and have a crunchy calzone dipped in marinara!

This is my favorite dish from my local Italian restaurant. Never though that I can make it with a store-bought regular pizza dough and canned mushrooms. I love spices so wonder if I can use anything spicy in the calzone or will it ruin the whole dish?

The best thing about a calzones is you can add pretty much what you like in them but this particular recipe has a perfect balance.

These spatulas are made of high quality. They look nicer than in pictures. Strong, sturdy and finished to a nice design. Easy to grip and won't leave anything in the cake mixing bowl. I've needed some new kitchen scissors for a while now. My current pair are becoming increasingly blunt and to be honest they have small holes for your fingers which actually hurt my hands when I try to use them. These seem to be extremely well made, and are very sharp. So far I've used them only to cut paper, cardboard and packaging. I have not yet used these scissors for food. They look more like scissors for packaging and general tasks rather than actually cutting meat etc with them. But I may get another pair for meats etc further down the line. There is a small cut out on the right hand blade which I believe would be used as a ring pull or can opener. This is a useful feature and a nice additional touch. There are also raised teeth between the two finger/thumb holes which look like they would be useful for opening small bottle tops to help you to get a grip. They're very smart with a black and red design and they have the manufacturers name Chef Remi stamped on the side and also stamped that they are made from stainless steel. A nice pair of kitchen scissors.
