Calzone Pizza

Tired of the usual pizza? Then why don’t you try this take on an Italian classic dish. Ladies and gents, we give you our Calzone Pizza recipe.

Honestly speaking, I still would prefer any meat filled pizza over this. But the point of giving you this recipe is an alternative to the usual 8 slices you see when you open that cardboard box.

And just like new experiences, this can easily blossom into a tasty long term relation.

Your Ingredients

2 thin pizza crusts (just go to the store and ask for classic pizza dough)
24 pepperoni slices
1, 4.5 oz, jar of sliced mushrooms with its water drained
Half a cup of sliced pimiento stuffed green olives
8 ounces of thinly sliced provolone cheese
1 tbsp of grated Parmesan cheese
14 ounces of pizza sauce (heat sauce before using)

How to make your Calzone Pizza

Heat your oven to 375°F.

Now get a 12 inch pizza pan and grease it lightly.

Get one of your pizza dough and place it on the pan.

Now, layer the dough with olives, mushrooms pepperoni and cheese.

Once done, get the other dough and put it on top.

Press over the edges to make a seal and cut a few slits on top to allow steam to escape. Top it off with a generous sprinkle of Parmesan cheese.

Now throw it inside the oven and bake for 30 minutes.

Slice your calzone into wedges and serve with your warm pizza sauce.

I tried to make a calzone pizza last night and it stuck to my pan. I read your receipe again and saw that I was supposed to grease my pan first. It was a really bad step to forget. It still tasted great but fell apart. I made a vegetarian version and did get soggy areas, maybe because I used too many veggies or maybe I should have cooked the veggies first? Lisa

Just a recommendation, you should also include the celcius temperature as it would be more convenient for people in different countries!

This is an excellent place to find out information about a highly tasty pizza that has strong flavour and memories from Italy.

This sounds really yummy, and something I’m going to try. I don’t like olives though so I would probably leave those out but still sounds delish.

Going to restaurants I had always seen this on the menus but never tried it. I am definitely going to create this at home because you have made it so simple to recreate. Looks amazing!!

Love this idea! I’m getting really sick of just eating delivery pizza or frozen pizza and was looking for something fresh, so this will be perfect for my fiancee and I to try this weekend!

Andrew Steel#7

The pizza sounds good, but what sounds better is over stuffing some sausage and bacon bits to the max and have a crunchy calzone dipped in marinara!

I’ll have this page bookmarked for the weekend! I’m thinking pizza!

I love any kinds of Pizza. I’ll must try this at home. But, some questions has come to my mind, those are: Can I use some Chickens or Beef here? Can you please explain another backing plan without Oven?

This article was really able to catch my eye due to the fact that although I am totally on board with the concept of calzone pizza, I have never found a recipe online that I like or felt comfortable making. That however has changed thanks to this article! Thanks for sharing

This is my favorite dish from my local Italian restaurant. Never though that I can make it with a store-bought regular pizza dough and canned mushrooms. I love spices so wonder if I can use anything spicy in the calzone or will it ruin the whole dish?

I stopped ordering calzones from local pizza places simply because they are typically super greasy and most times so soggy it’s not enjoyable. I’m going to give your recipe a shot this weekend, it looks really simple to make. Wish me luck on it turning out as good as yours!

I really enjoy making a calzone homemade.
This recipe is quick and simple and has saved me and my family lots of money on the weekend takeaways.
The best thing about a calzones is you can add pretty much what you like in them but this particular recipe has a perfect balance.

Another recipe I am definitely going to try. I am wondering if the calzone should be turned over during the baking process in order to get browned on both sides.

Julie R said: Neat grater!

This is pretty cool. I like how it grates the cheese right into a container that I can pop into my fridge. The design is great for storage and it is easy to wash. I also put it into the dishwasher on the top rack. Love the guarantee!

Julie R said: Love these shears!

I got these shears because my old ones were pretty old (21 yrs!) and dull. Wow. These are great! I love that they come apart to wash and use. The hook is great for opening packages. I use the notches between the handles to help me open pop bottles. They fit my hands so much better than that old pair. Very comfortable to handle.

This knife is super sharp! I like that its not too heavy and not too light. It definitely doesn't feel cheap or perform cheap. I am very happy with this knife. Quality chef knife for a great price!

I think this pizza cutter is the best idea. Spatula and pizza cutter in one. Awesome. Top quality. Chef Remi kitchen utensils/items are high quality. I plan on replacing more of my kitchen utensils/items.

Shameed said: Better than I expected!

I was the ad on tv for this and thought it was too good to be true, like most other tv ad items. To my surprise, it cut through the melon so easily without the wastage and all the juice spilling out. Very easy to use and convenient.
