Some say that everything tastes better with bacon. Though that might be true to a certain extent, I say, everything looks, sounds and tastes even better with beer!
Beer and bread? Honestly speaking though, I was a bit apprehensive at first. But after I was done cooking it, man, it did taste great.
2 tbsps of butter or margarine2 French breads
1⁄4 cup of all-purpose flour
1 cup of chicken broth
1⁄4 cup of half-and-half
6 ounces of American cheese, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
1 tsp of Worcestershire sauce
1⁄4 cup of beer
Chopped fresh chives
How to make your Homemade Beer Cheese Soup with Chives and Bread
Get a 2 quart saucepan and start melting your butter over medium heat.
Add in your flour and cook for 1minute while consistently stirring the mixture.
Now slowly add in your chicken broth and half-and-half. Cook and stir continuously until mixture thickens.
Once it becomes thick, add in your cheese, beer and Worcestershire sauce.
Around this time, reduce the heat to low and cook the mixture for not more than 10 minute.
Make sure that you stir the mixture occasionally to the cheese to totally melt and for the flavors to mix evenly.
Now go get your French bread and cut the top off each of them.
You then try to make bowls out of them by gently pressing down on the center of each loaf.
Place your bread bowl into shallow soup plates and spoon in the soup into them until filled.
Sprinkle with a bit of chives and place the top of the loaves next to the bread bowl.
