How To Eat Avocado Even When You Don't Like It!

Avocado has to be the number one food when it comes to polarizing people's opinions.

You might be one of these people who love this savory fruit. You'll find any excuse to put it in sandwiches, burritos, omelets, and you'll add guacamole to everything!

And then there's the others. 'Slimy green mush' seems to generally sum up how some people feel about the avocado.

Despite this, even the biggest avocado phobic can't deny the health benefits.

Avocados have been proven to lower blood pressure, reduce the likelihood of heart attacks and strokes, and lower cholesterol.......things that all of us in the western world need to do.

But here's the ugly truth. You can be bashed over the head many times with the 'avocado is good for you'    phrase, but if you genuinely don't like it, you're not likely to stick at eating it long term.

Sure, your will power might make you eat avocados for a few weeks on a health kick, but very soon, you'll give up. The health benefits associated with eating avocados isn't something that can happen in a matter of weeks.

So today, we're going to show you 3 easy, quick ways you can get avocado into your meals. And you won’t even be able to tell it's in there!

We've found 3 clever ways to use avocados that will make you think twice, even if you're the most ardent avocado hater.

Chocolate Mousse:

Believe or not, it's the actually creaminess (or 'sliminess' if you're an avocado loather) that creates the most decadent of chocolate mousses. Yet the chocolate completely masks the taste of avocado!

Choose a dark chocolate (at least 70% cocoa solids) as it masks the avocado taste much more than milk chocolate, or you could add mint leaves.

Take 3/4 cup of chocolate and melt it in a heatproof bowl over simmering water on a stove. Add some mint leaves, if using. Now add maple syrup (add as much as you want, depending on how sweet your tooth is) and combine well.

Split and pit 1 avocado and scoop up the flesh. Take the chocolate off heat and mix in the avocado flesh. Now pour everything into a blender and blend till smooth. Top with fruit pieces, coconut shavings, or devour on its own!

Pistachio & Avocado Ice Cream:

Yes, you can make ice cream with avocado and, do it our way, all avocado taste is obliterated!

Soak 3/4 cup of shelled pistachios overnight. Then, add 1 tablespoon of lemon or lime juice and process the pistachios in a food processor till smooth.

Split and pit 1 avocado and scoop up the flesh, and then add to the processed pistachios.

Now add some honey (depending on how sweet you like your ice cream), a drop of vanilla essence, and process again till smooth.

Add 1 to 2 tablespoons of milk, little by little, until you get a mousse consistency. Pour the mixture into a shallow container and freeze. You'll be a convert once you've tasted this!

Avocado Bread:

Yes, we also fell off our seat when we heard you could make bread with avocado!

Preheat your oven to 180°F. Split and pit 2 large avocados and scoop up the flesh.

Add to a blender, add 3 eggs, and about 1/3 cup of olive oil. Blend until smooth.

In a mixing bowl, mix together 1/2 cup of flax seeds and 1 cup of ground almonds with a pinch of salt and pepper. Now add the avocado mixture in and mix well till it's all smooth.

Grease a loaf tray and spoon in the mixture. Scatter some sunflower and/or pumpkin seeds on top, and bake for 30 minutes delicious!

Try our 'avocado hater' recipes. We guarantee you'll be pleased.

The next time one of your smug friends go on about how healthy avocado is and how they can devour a bowl of guacamole in one sitting, you can roll your eyes at them and say Guacamole? Is that all you're still doing with avocado? That's so BORING!

I adhere to a paleo diet (for the most part) and already knew about making chocolate mousse using avocados, however, I never knew that bread could be made using avocados! Very sneaky!

I really dislike avocados. But am willing to try the bread recipe. Looks easy enough and I love sunflower seeds. I think the texture is my issue and this looks promising.

My doctor advise me to eat Avocado. I also heard about its healthy benefits. But its taste make me hate it. I think if I use this recipe, I can eat avocado.

This is totally awesome. Avocados are one of my favorite foods and I can’t wait to try out some new ways of cooking with it and enjoying it. I am especially excited about the Mousse.

Bethany S#14

I just started my baby on solids. Her first go w/ avocados was…interesting to say the least. Not her favorite, but certainly not her most despised (that’s reserved for peas and green beans). I’m glad to see there are ways to hide it from her if it ever falls to the ‘most despised’ side of the category. That bread looks amazing!

Dave John#15

I tried Chocolate Mousse before also tried avocado in in ice cream but the bread is totally new thing surely I am going to try that could you give us any curry recipe?Could be mixed up with some spice or something like that.

Dorothy Kernaghan-Baez#16

O.M.G. A recipe for a vegan chocolate mousse on a mainstream site!

I love guacamole, but other than that I’m sort of “meh” about it. I also hate alternative milks, so I can’t wait to try the mousse!

For people who like California rolls, you can take snack size seaweed paper, put a little scoop of rice on the paper, then top with a dollop of guacamole. I call them “white trash California rolls.”

Elizabeth Ferguson#17

Although I am a huge fanatic about avocados already, I couldn’t resist reading this article to get some more unique recipes! The chocolate mousse is by far my favorite because the avocado adds a unique texture. I topped it off with lime shavings to add a little sour to the sweetness! Yum.

Chris S#18

Ok, just reading through the chocolate mousse recipe just blows my mind. I never would have put chocolate and avocados together but thats something I got to try! My girlfriend is going to love the bread recipe

Jessica Brown said: Great spatula set!

This set of spatulas is very nice. Great quality, and I love that they are heat resistant! I would definitely recommend purchasing!

Shannon said: Great Basic for any kitchen!

Previously I had a hand held one and it made it so much more difficult to use! This is way easier to use and can stand upright on its own. It's a Basic you need in any kitchen and I have no complaints.

Ian said: Can't go wrong with these!

You can't go wrong with these tongs for the kitchen. It's great since they have the lever at the top that allows them to stay closed while in my kitchen drawer. Previous ones I had didn't and it was a nightmare just from how much space they would take up! Also, since they have silicon at the bottom it doesn't scratch my pans! Very happy!

Jeannie said: Wonderful press

This is such an awesome press!! It has cut my prep time in half. It is so easy to use and doesn't stick.

NA said: Grips well in the hand

Solid. It grips well in the hand.
