I have been getting emails about easy to make desserts. Specifically, a number of you wanted dessert recipes that do not have anything to do with baking. So I guess most of you dont like cakes or pastries? Also, do leave a comment below as to why is that so.

Anyway, I love getting emails from you guys and would love to do what I can to answer them. And here is my reply and suggestion for you non cake lovers out there.

Enjoy!

Your Ingredients

1 vanilla bean, halved lengthwise

2 cinnamon sticks

1/4 tsp of ground nutmeg

2 cups of firmly packed brown sugar

4 peeled Packham pears or beurre bosc pears

Double cream or ice-cream, to serve

How to make your Poached pears with spices in syrup

Over medium heat, add 4 cups of cold water, sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon and vanilla into a saucepan.

Now add in your pears and cook them, partially covered, for not more than 20 minutes or until they become tender.

Once done, remove the pears from heat and allow them to cool in syrup. Use a slotted spoon and transfer pears into a clean plate.

Fire the burner back up and cook syrup over medium-high heat. Bring the syrup to a boil for not more than 10 minutes or until syrup is reduced to at least a third.

Once done, serve pears with a drizzling of syrup and a generous scoop of ice cream.

Delicious receipe! I will try this because I don’t like cake due to high calories. Please tell me, what is exactly vanilla bean, halved lengthwise?

I am going to try this recipe. We are a family that half loves fruit and half loves sweets. My roommate won’t eat fruit, but I think she will at least try this one. I love cakes and pastries, but sometimes you just want something with a little less starch in it.

Personally I don’t mind baking desserts so I feel like these poached pears could be put in something like a pie or, used for something like a pear cobbler. Thanks for the recipe!

i really really think i’m gonna quit classic sweets in the favor of those homemade ones. just as my grandmother used to make! i was coming from school thinking what else she is gonna prepare..good times!

Knife is very sharp. Wish it came with a sheath though. Handle is very long. This is our 3rd purchase from Chef Remi. We will be purchasing many more products from Chef Remi.

Rachel Foutch said: Perfect whisks for any kitchen!

These whisks work to do an amazing job in the kitchen. I love all of Chef Remi's products, these whisks in particular are my favorite Chef Remi tools though. I whisk often when cooking, and they both did the job perfectly, they cleaned up easily, and even better they don't trap liquid inside of them like many others do. I have often been whisking dry ingredients with other brands of whisk and found them to start suddenly dripping some water out...this is not ideal of course when doing something that requires precision and also who knows how long that liquid has been there or that it's only water! I love my Chef Remi whisk and will never use another brand for this ever again. These cleaned up so easily with the silicone that everything just wiped and washed right off!

Eva Connover said: Must have spatulas

Super satisfied with this spatula set, each one is different shape and the material is not stiff but not too soft. The handle is sturdy and very comfortable to the hand. 100% recommended and the price cant be beat!!!
